Ignatius is warning the Magnesians against false teachings and old myths, arguing that even the ancient prophets lived according to Jesus Christ.

Do not be led astray by false teachings or by old myths, which are worthless. For if we still live according to Judaism, we are admitting that we have not received grace.

The most divine prophets lived according to Christ Jesus. That is why they were persecuted: they were inspired by his grace so that the disobedient might be fully convinced that there is one God, who revealed himself through Jesus Christ his Son, who is his Word, who came forth from silence, and who in every way pleased the one who sent him.
