About

Fathers is a free public library: a topic map of ante-Nicene teaching, whole works in edition order, and an Explore timeline that shows how writers line up on a claim across time.

The catalog is always moving. New treatises and topic excerpts land as they are finished; status and era labels live on each work page, not as a fixed inventory here. Authors not yet loaded as whole works may appear first as contrast cards on Explore.

These are English translations for study. Translation provenance belongs in About this text on each work. Earlier English editions may also exist; a new rendering is not a claim to be the first.

How the English is made — two passes, source locking, witnesses, and what stays off the reading page — is on the methodology page.

This is not a complete scholarly edition. Where Greek or Latin is loaded, open it under the reading text.

Each whole work names the print it follows. Any checks against other Greek or Latin prints should be recorded with the work. The reading English follows that copy-text. Where a stretch is missing there and is supplied from another witness, it is marked. Open About this text on a work for the list.

Explore stance tags are editorial readings for study — not rankings of who was right. Start with Free will over time.
