Papyrus Fragment
Apollinarius and Nestorius share one impiety§1
Cyril opens the fragment by stating his judgment on the errors of Apollinarius and Nestorius.
1I consider the opinion of Apollinarius and the blasphemy of Nestorius to be one and the same impiety. I believe it is the same error to ascribe division or a duality to the Only-Begotten Son of God according to the incarnation, and not to confess that his flesh, which has a soul and is all-holy, is human except for sin alone. It is the same error to say either that his flesh had its existence from heaven, or that it came into being through a change of the Word. To those who have fallen into any such error, I say, quoting Scripture, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures.”

But those who disturb the church among us and its Christ-loving people...
