No one should be deceived: judgment awaits even heavenly powers without faith in Christ's blood

Ignatius is warning the Smyrnaeans against false teachers, saying that even heavenly beings face judgment unless they believe in the blood of Christ, and that no position should make anyone proud.

Let no one be deceived. Even the heavenly things, the glory of the angels, and the rulers both visible and invisible: if they do not believe in the blood of Christ, judgment awaits them as well. Let the one who can receive this receive it. Let no one be puffed up by position, for the whole matter is faith and love, and nothing is preferred above these.

But take careful note of those who hold different opinions about the grace of Jesus Christ that has come to us, and see how contrary they are to the mind of God. They have no care for love, none for the widow, none for the orphan, none for the afflicted, none for the one who is bound or the one who is free, none for the one who hungers or thirsts.
