Unity under bishop, elders, and deacons

Ignatius is writing to the church in Magnesia, urging them to act in unity under their bishop, council of elders, and deacons.

Since in the persons I have already named I saw the whole multitude in faith and loved them, I urge you: make it your aim to do everything in the concord of God. Let the bishop preside in the place of God, and the council of elders in the place of the council of the apostles, and let the deacons, who are most sweet to me, be entrusted with the service of Jesus Christ, who before the ages was with the Father and appeared at the end.

All of you, then, having taken on God's own character, respect one another, and let no one look at his neighbor according to the flesh, but always love one another in Jesus Christ. Let there be nothing in you that can divide you, but be united with the bishop and with those who preside, as a type and teaching of incorruption.
