Against Docetism

Ignatius of Antioch, Epistle to the Trallians 11

Ignatius of Antioch · d. c. 110 AD

So run from those evil offshoots. Their fruit brings death, and whoever tastes it dies at once. These are not the Father's planting (Matthew 15:13).

If they were, they would show themselves as branches of the cross, and their fruit would never decay. Through that cross, in his suffering, he calls you, for you are his members.
