Ignatius of Antioch, Epistle to the Magnesians 9

Ignatius of Antioch · d. c. 110 AD

If, then, those who had lived under the old order of things came to a new hope, no longer keeping the Sabbath but living according to the Lord's day, the day on which our life also dawned through him and through his death (which some deny, through that mystery we received faith, and for this reason we endure, so that we may be found disciples of Jesus Christ, our only Teacher), how shall we be able to live apart from him?

Even the prophets were his disciples in the Spirit, and they looked for him as their Teacher. And for this reason the One they rightly awaited, when he came, raised them from the dead.
