Stay away from false teachers and follow the bishop

Ignatius is writing to the church in Philadelphia, warning them to avoid false teachers and to remain united with their bishop.

Keep away from the evil plants, which Jesus Christ does not cultivate, because they are not the Father's planting. I did not find division among you, but a filtering out of what is false.

For all who belong to God and Jesus Christ are with the bishop. And all who repent and come to the unity of the church will also belong to God, so that they may live according to Jesus Christ.

Do not be deceived, my brothers and sisters: if anyone follows one who makes a division, that person does not inherit the kingdom of God. If anyone follows someone else's teaching, that person does not share in the passion.
