Ignatius of Antioch — Epistle to the Smyrnaeans 2

Ignatius of Antioch · Epistle to the Smyrnaeans · c. 110

All of this he suffered for us, so that we might be saved. And he suffered truly, just as he truly raised himself. Some unbelievers say his suffering was only an appearance. No, it is they who are only an appearance! And what they believe will become their lot: they will end up bodiless, like the demons.
