Ignatius of Antioch, Epistle to the Ephesians 20
If Jesus Christ counts me worthy through your prayer, and if it is his will, then in the second little book I mean to write you, I will explain further the plan I began to set out about the New Man, Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:15): in his faith and in his love, in his suffering and in his resurrection.
I will do so above all if the Lord shows me that every one of you, together, by the grace that comes from his Name, is gathering in one faith and in Jesus Christ, who in the flesh was of David's line (Romans 1:3), the Son of Man and the Son of God. You gather so that you may obey the bishop and the presbytery with an undistracted mind, breaking one bread (1 Corinthians 10:16-17). That bread is the medicine of immortality, an antidote against death, so that we do not die but live in Jesus Christ forever (John 6:50-51).
