Canon and the Rule of Truth

Eusebius of Caesarea, Church History 21

Eusebius of Caesarea · c. 260–c. 339 AD

During this period, Hegesippus—whom we know from earlier accounts—was thriving in the church, along with Dionysius, bishop of Corinth; Pinytus, another bishop in Crete; Philippus; Apollinarius; Melito; Musanus; Modestus; and above all, Irenaeus. It is from them that the orthodox written tradition of the apostolic teaching, or of the sound faith, has reached us.
