…his true disciples, having received grace from him, perform it for the benefit of the rest of humankind, each as he has received the gift from him. For some drive out demons firmly and truly, so that those cleansed from the evil spirits often themselves believe and are in the church; others have foreknowledge of things to come and visions and prophetic utterances; others heal the sick by laying on of hands and restore them to health; and, as we said, the dead have been raised and have remained with us for a fair number of years — and what more? One cannot number the gifts which the church throughout the whole world has received from God in the name of Jesus Christ crucified under Pontius Pilate, and which she performs each day for the benefit of the nations, neither deceiving anyone nor taking money…
