Commodian — Instructiones 4
This Jupiter was born to Saturn on the island of Crete; and when grown he robbed his father of the kingdom. Then he deluded nobles’ wives and sisters. Moreover Pyracmon the smith had made him a scepter. In the beginning God made the heaven, the earth, and the sea. But that frightful creature, born in mid-time, went out as a youth from a cave and was nourished by stealth. Behold, that God is author of all things — not that Jupiter.
