Commodian — Instructiones 32
O wild people without a shepherd, wander no longer. I too who warn you was the same, unknowing, astray. Now therefore take your Lord’s figure; lift wild hearts and put roughness aside. Enter the stalls, woodland ones, to the oxen’s mangers, safe from robbers, remaining under the king’s roof. In the wood are wolves — flee under the cave. You make war, you rave, nor look where you linger. Believe in one God, where when dead you can live, and rise in the kingdom, since there is resurrection for the just.
