I have discovered certain people who think their own opinions make them supremely wise, yet they rave, they rant, and they pronounce verdicts as if they were oracles. They claim that ever since the Christian nation appeared in the world, the earth has been ruined and the human race has been afflicted with countless evils. They even assert that the heavenly powers have abandoned their solemn duties — duties by which they once used to visit our affairs — and have been driven from the regions of the earth.
