On the Imputation of Adam's First Sin · §540 · Josué de la Place (Placeus)

Man. Post. Cap. IX: PLAC — ἐφ' ᾧ πάντες ἥμαρτον; linger then flee to ἥμαρτον; Calvin French

Let us come to the following words, eph' hoi pantes hemarton. Here, forsooth, you think you have found a great defense of your cause. You linger a little on the words 'in whom',',',, presently, leaving them, you betake yourself to the word hemarton. Namely you were unwilling wholly to reject the version which our Churches use, although you openly enough show that it does not please you. And so, you say, let our French version stand and remain, which is John Calvin's, because, or when, all have sinned. Yet against it you cast some things in this chapter and in chapter ix., which, when I shall have come to that chapter, God helping, I will call back to examination.

Latin

Veniamus ad sequentes voces ἐφ' ᾧ πάντες ἥμαρτον. Hic magnum scilicet causae tuae putas te reperisse praesidium. In verbis ἐφ' ᾧ consistis paululum, mox iis desertis ad verbum ἥμαρτον te confers.
