As there those who eat the Passover in haste are commanded to have the shoes on their feet, likewise also in the gospel: those already able to sacrifice and eat the Passover, as has been shown, the apostle commands — as already having the loin girded in truth and putting on the breastplate of righteousness and having taken the helmet of salvation — already also to shoe themselves in readiness of the gospel, and already to have the staffs in their hands as already having shared in instruction.
